Residence Fees Overview

General Information

  • Failure to pay the first installment of residence fees by or on the date due will lead to forfeiture of your accommodation assignment.
  • Post-dated cheques will not be accepted.
  • A $25 service charge will be levied on all cheques returned by your bank for any reason.
  • Late payments may not be accepted. If accepted, they will be subject to a late payment fee of $25.
  • Charges for residence fees and meal plan fees (if applicable) will continue until all assigned keys are returned to the Front Desk and the check-out form is signed.

Payment methods for residence and mealplan fee:

  • Credit Card (Visa or Mastercard) and Interac Online Payments:
    Residents can pay their residence and mealplan fees on-line at the Student Housing and Hospitality Services (SHHS) Online Service Centre. Just follow the easy steps to pay your fees. Please note Interac Online Payment is only available through RBC, BMO, Scotia, and TD banks at this time.
  • The Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) Online Payment:
    Residents can pay their residence and mealplan fees, directly from their Canadian bank account provided they pay via the MyFinancial Account in the Student Service Centre (SSC).
    Note: Do not make an online bill payment from your bank account to "University of BC (Tuition Fees)". This payee is for tuition fees only.
  • Cheque, Cash, Interac Direct, Money Order Payments:
    All payments for residence and mealplan fees should be made payable to UBC. Please write your name, UBC ID and residence address on the back of the cheque. These payments can be made at the Student Housing and Hospitality Services Main Office by the due date. Receipts are given upon request.
  • International Funds Transfer
    International students can pay their residence and meal plan fees, by Western Union International Funds Transfer via the MyFinancial Account in the Student Service Centre (SSC). Please note that payments should be made three days earlier than the due date as Western Union Locks in the exchange rate for 72 hours, after which a new exchange rate is applied.
