Job Summary:
Working under the general supervision of the Assistant Director, Residence Administration, the position is responsible for the supervision and delivery of residence front desk services in the UBC residences. The position is responsible for maintaining services through support staff on a 24 hour per day schedule, 7 days a week at one of the student/staff/faculty residences. Duties involve supervising, selecting, training, scheduling and evaluating Residence Attendant staff, maintaining front desk services and procedures and residence security. This position is required to act as front desk liaison in emergency and non-emergency situations between UBC units and is responsible for liaison with other area managers, supervisors and support staff.

Duties: In addition to the duties outlined above, the position is required to perform all the duties of a Residence Attendant including: coordinating and preparing the residence area for the arrival and departure of residents, distributing keys to residents, setting up mail delivery systems, patrolling residence facilities to monitor security, maintaining change and cash floats, accepting residence payments, processing administrative documentation, and assisting in the completion and forwarding of maintenance work order requests.

Requires an individual with excellent, proven supervisory and communication skills with some property management/hospitality industry background experience. Knowledge of first aid and emergency procedures is an asset. Supervisors are scheduled to work weekends on a rotational basis- once every six weekends.

Residence Attendant

Salary: Pay grade 12a

Reporting directly to a front desk supervisor, the position is responsible for providing a wide-range of residence front desk services to UBC on-campus residents on an on-call basis. Duties include: preparing the residence area for the arrival of residents, assigning keys to residents, sorting and distributing mail, patrolling residence facilities, providing security, maintaining change and cash floats, accepting residence payments and processing administrative documentation, parking administration, assisting in the completion and forwarding of maintenance requests and processing resident check-outs. Staff are required to act as departmental liaison in emergency situations between campus emergency units. Duties are scheduled on a 24 hour basis. Candidates are expected to work weekdays, weekends, daytime, evening or graveyard shifts as required.

The position requires an individual with excellent communication and customer service skills with some property management/hospitality industry background. Knowledge of first aid and emergency procedures is an asset.
