How to apply
General Info
- Applying to UBC and applying for residence are two separate things.
- You can apply for residence before you are admitted to UBC.
- Check that you meet all eligibility requirements. Complete the entire application. Include the non-refundable $50 application fee with your application.
- Application fee: Provided the applications are dated within one 14-day span, one $50 residence application fee will cover the following residence applications:
- Vancouver campus winter session (September to April)
- Vancouver campus year-round residence
- Okanagan campus winter session (September to April)
- Accommodating Mobility and Agility Disabilities
If you have a mobility or agility disability, or have guests with mobility disabilities, you are welcome to request or accept assignment to accommodation located above the ground floor. Nevertheless, you should know that the elevators do occasionally break down, and may be out of order for extended periods. Inconvenience may occur for those unable to negotiate stairs. - Ways to apply:

We make residence offers via email!
- From the date we email your residence offer you have seven (7) days to respond. So check your email frequently, and if you don't have consistent email access have someone check it on your behalf.
- If you fail to accept your time-limited offer of residence before the expiry date, the offer will be withdrawn and your residence application will be cancelled. Additionally, any priority access benefits, including the first-year residence guarantee (if applicable) will be terminated.
To ensure you receive your residence offer:
- Keep your e-mail address and contact information current. Update your contact information at the online Student Service Centre. Log on using your CWL account and password.
- Update your Contacts/Safe lists: Make sure that our email addresses: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Winter Session

Residences:
Totem Park, Place Vanier, Walter Gage, Ritsumeikan-UBC House, Fairview Crescent, Marine Drive (Bldg. 5).
The Date of Your Application:
For your best chance at receiving an assignment, make sure your application arrives at our office on or before February 1, 2013.
Application Fee:
We require a non-refundable $50 application fee (Mastercard, VISA, cheques or money orders payable to the University of British Columbia). Include payment with your application, or you will not be considered for a residence assignment. Post-dated cheques are not accepted.
Roommate Preference:
If you wish to live in the same residence, floor, unit, or room with a friend or friends:
Log onto our Online Service Centre. Follow the prompts and provide the requested information.
How to apply:
Please do not send duplicate applications.
Make sure you complete the entire form. Double-check that you ranked your residence preferences. While we will do our best to assign you to your first or second preference, we cannot guarantee this will occur, and you may be assigned to another residence area. You can make changes to your application until May 1, 2013 by logging onto Online Service Centre.

The Confirmation:

Year Round
Year Round Residences
Thunderbird, Marine Drive (Bldgs. 1,2,4 & 6), Fraser Hall, and Ponderosa Commons residences:
Submit your application with the $50 application fee. Whether you are a new applicant or a current resident requesting a transfer, you will receive equal priority and the date we receive your application will determine your position on the waiting list.
You can make changes to your application online up to the time you are offered residence.
Students with children should apply for Acadia Park as children are not permitted to reside at other residences.
Graduate Colleges (grad students, post-doc fellows, visiting faculty):
Submit your application with the $50 fee and required additional documentation.
Green College additional documentation
St. John's College additional documentation
Acadia Park (student family):
Submit your application with the $50 fee and documentation as proof of the number of children who will be living with you. This documentation could be birth certificates, immigration papers or medical services documentation that lists the number of dependents and their dates of birth.

Application Date and Fee:
We will receive your application at any time during the year. The non-refundable application fee is $50. There are waiting lists for these accommodations. Your application is valid for one year only, and can be renewed on your yearly application anniversary date.
